The 1920s were the time of the avant-garde artist group "Kölner Progressive" - one of the central female figures was the artist Marta Hegemann (1894-1970): With her pictures she created a beneficial counterworld that defied anachronistic gender stereotypes. With the arrival of National Socialism, Hegemann's career as a painter came to an end and her art was banned from museums as "degenerate".

Two dancers are inspired by Hegemann's life: their isolation as an artist in a male society, their portrayal of women as an escape from an established world. They design new models of womanhood, political and personal developments form the basis of their artistic creativity. An attempt to sketch feelings and thoughts in the time of upheaval - towards a new community.

The eXXperiment was the first premiere after the

Lockdown on May 30, 2020.
